Fairest - Book 3.5
I don't think my feelings for Levana changed much after reading this book. If anything it made me dislike her more. I liked being able to get her story as to why she is the way she is. I understand her better but that doesn't excuse her in anyway. This is such a great series.
Winter - Book Four
This book took me a month to read and it was totally worth it!
Every part of me wanted to take this book slow but I honestly couldn't help myself from picking up the book any chance I had. Cinder and her friends are A-FREAKIN-MAZING! They all have their own strengths and weaknesses yet they all have the same desire... to help Cinder take her throne back. There were tons of intense scenes with lots of high and lows. The world building is outstanding in this book and it felt as if everything was happening right in front of me and to my friends no less. I love how each chapter towards the end caught you up on each of our wonderful characters and their budding relationships. I really adore this story and the characters and am already dying to do a reread of the series.
Cinder and her friends are more determined then ever to take down Levana and nothing is going to stop them.
Cress - Book Three
This one took me a really long time to get through, but I'm not complaining. The characters are all strong and willing to sacrifice for what they are want and those they love. I loved being in this world again and seeing Cinder fight for what is truly hers, Lunar. I loved learning about Cress and how she is tied into the whole story. Cinder and her crew decide to help Cress escape her satellite and have her help them gain control of Lunar. But in doing so, they lose Scarlet, Thorne, and Cress in the meantime. Scarlet is taken under control by Sybil, while Thorne and Cress are sent to crash on to Earth. Cinder is left with Wolfe and Jacin (Lunar soldier) to find Dr. Erland and eventually figure out a way to stop the wedding of Levana and Kai.
We also discover what Levana was doing with the Lunar shells when they were removed from their families. And my favorite part was seeing a side of Thorne that I didn't think was possible.
Scarlet - Book Two
Wow! I am addicted to this series. Book two introduces our newest heroine, Scarlet. Her grandmother went missing and no one is willing to look into her mysterious disappearance. Scarlet befriends a stranger new to town, Wolf, but can she trust him. He resembles the people who her father claims took her grandmother. While Scarlet is out searching for her grandmother, Cinder and Thorne are on the run and need to find answers... they need Scarlet's grandmother. Emperor Kai discovers that Cinder and another inmate have escaped and needs to find her before Queen Levana takes over the world.
There is so much going on in this story that it does become a bit overwhelming when you are trying to keep track of everything. But eventually it all comes together. We learn so much in book two about Cinder's past and how she is connected to Scarlet. We also learn that the least likely person to trust turns out to be the only one we can trust.
I am super excited to dive into book three, I can't wait to see what happens next.
Cinder - Book One
If you haven't noticed by now Sci-fi isn't my typical read. I am open to reading pretty much any genre, but some take a lot more effort to read. Why? Because of the terminology that is used, it usually throws me for a loop and then I have a hard time following and keeping track of the story. I had purchased this book last year before the pandemic hit and hadn't had the chance to read it until now. WHY!! Why did I wait so long? This book is amazing. I loved every minute of it. It is a retelling of Cinderella, but not your typical story. This one has little aspects of the original Cinderella story thrown in with a twist. I love how Marissa Meyer put this story together and I'm super excited to see what happens in the upcoming books.
Cinder is a cyborg mechanic who lives with her adoptive mother and sisters. There is a plague that has hit New Bejing and ends up taking the lives of many people in the country, including the Emperor. When the plague hits home for Cinder and she becomes "the reason" for it, her adoptive mother volunteers Cinder for the Cyborg experimentation to help find a cure for the disease. Cinder learns so much about herself from this experimentation and has to figure out what to do with all this new information. She has to decide if she is going to risk pushing the Prince away by telling him who and what she really is to help save the country. There are so many twists and turns throughout this story to keep you glued to the book. The characters are wonderful and the world building is outstanding. I highly recommend this book, especially if you love retellings with a twist.
